Family Bliss On the Go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

We went to MNSSHP in October 2024 with a 9yo boy and 6yo boy. I researched a lot about this, including watching YouTube videos, reading blogs, and I joined a Facebook group about it. Because I did all of that, we had a wonderful time...and hopefully I can stop you from having to do quite as much legwork!
The first important thing to know about MNSSHP is that it is a separate ticket, so even if you have a ticket for Magic Kingdom that day, you will have to leave at 6pm for the party unless you bought the other separate party ticket too. I know some people like to be at Magic Kingdom all day, but it kind of seems like a waste to me to buy a full-cost ticket for half day there. I'd suggest either resting at your hotel because you'll be up late or, if you want to hit a park, perhaps Animal Kingdom for the day until around 2pm. You could then go back to your hotel to get ready for the fun!
With a party ticket, you can enter at 4pm. We showed up around 345pm and were in by 4pm. It felt magical walking in to the party, being greeted by villains, and seeing the decorations. Not everyone wears costumes, so you don't have to if you really don't want to, but a lot of people do. It's fun just people watching at all the amazing Disney Halloween costume ideas!
All of the "party specific" treats and shows don't start until 6pm, but there's still a lot happening between 4-6. We still saw many villains then and the ride overlays started early the day we were there, so we got to do those too. Ride overlays are basically special add-ons to rides that are themed for the holiday (like Halloween jokes at Monsters Inc or special lighting and music for the Tea Cups).
I strongly suggest that before going to a Disney party, you have a general plan of attack or priority list. It seems like a lot of time, but it flies by. For us, we prioritized all the Halloween specific things like the 2 shows, parade, and ride overlays.
We also had several special treats we wanted to try and mapped out where they were (Disney releases the list of treats about a month before).
That was it for our must dos, and then we figured we'd squeeze in as many rides as we could and hit up some trick or treat candy stops when we passed them, but we didn't care to prioritize those. I will say that we were able to do everything on our must do list, MANY rides because of short lines, and got a ridiculous amount of candy.
I recommend bringing a bookbag with you to this party for two reasons- to put the wigs or masks in that your kids will inevitably take off minutes in and to hold the pounds of candy!
If getting pictures with characters is more your thing, you will need to plan that in because of the wait times. We didn't care as much about that, which helped us to fit in more. It's really just about choosing your must dos, and then your second choices, and beyond.
Lastly, be prepared to carry sleeping kids out if you have young ones. This party goes until (or really slightly beyond) midnight. It was so fun and exhilarating walking arouond a much less crowded park at midnight and hopping right on to rides in the dark, and this is coming from someone who LOVES her sleep, but kids can absolutely get tired. Our kids both somehow managed to hang and stayed awake for this entire party, then conked out on the bus back to the hotel. However, when we went to the Christmas party a year later, our younger son fell asleep before the parade and was carried around/out that night, so be prepared for either to occur! Some parents choose to go to the party and leave earlier with younger kids, so that's an option if you prefer. But if you can make it until late, I'd recommend that. The later show times and parade times are less crowded because of those parents who left early.
